A tough six day mountain biking challenge that takes in the smoking volcanic slopes of Popocatepetl and the tropical jungles of the Sierra Madre Oriental. This incredible adventure explores the natural and cultural heartland of the Aztecs.
Beginning in Cholula in central Mexico, you will traverse a wild and rugged landscape that includes the two highest peaks in the country, Pico de Orizaba and the still active volcano of Popocatepetl. Crossing high mountain passes and fertile farmland, you will cycle through villages steeped in a fascinating blend of pre-Colombian and Spanish traditions; exploring the beautiful barroco church in Tonantzintla and descending steep winding trails down towards the lush farmland and coffee plantations of south-east Mexico.
A challenging adventure, this 365kms biking journey will involve some steep ascents (two of which take you up beyond 4,000m) and some long and fast descents, through some of the most spectacular natural beauty that Mexico has to offer.
Ending amongst the impressive Mesoamerican ruins of Cantona, you also have a chance to explore one of the largest pre-Colombian sites ever discovered in this part of the Americas.
