A-list group of celebrities to climb Kilimanjaro with Charity Challenge!

28/11/08

It’s being talked about daily on TV, radio and in the national press. An A-list group of celebrities are to climb Kilimanjaro with Charity Challenge! The group includes Gary Barlow (Take That), Cheryl Cole and Kimberley Walsh (Girls Aloud, X Factor), Ronan Keating (Boyzone), Chris Moyles (Radio 1), Denise Van Outen (TV presenter) Alesha Dixon (winner of Strictly Come Dancing and singer), Ben Shephard (GMTV Presenter), and Fearne Cotton (TV Presenter) are all hoping to raise thousands of pounds for the Comic Relief Red Nose Day campaign by summiting the Roof of Africa, Mount Kilimanjaro.  They will be tackling the remote wilderness Lemosho Route which traverses Shira Plateau before leading up Barafu Ridge on Kibo to the Roof of Africa – known as Uhuru Point.  This is the preferred route for Charity Challenge trekkers and gives around 96% success rate in reaching the summit.

You too could do the same!

Charity Challenge organise and run two routes to the summit of Kilimanjaro, both having their advantages. You can climb Kilimanjaro on the Lemosho route, a 12 day itinerary; or you could take the Rongai route an 11 day itinerary. If climbing the highest mountain in Africa isn’t quite your thing, then how about trekking on the Great Wall of China, cycling from Vietnam to Cambodia, sea kayaking in Brazil or even trekking a little closer to home from one coast of Scotland to another? We are sure to have something for you.

The best thing about climbing Mt Kilimanjaro or taking up any of our challenges with Charity Challenge is that you can achieve a personal goal and raise money for any UK or Irish registered charity. Click here to find out more.
