Volcanic Eruptions Update

27/04/2010

Like most travel companies in Europe, we were completely taken by surprise by the closure of airspace above the UK on 16 April and have been busily dealing for the last two weeks in trying to get our clients home from around the globe. Some clients are now home and others are due to arrive back imminently and have confirmed travel arrangements in place.

Whilst this situation was totally out of our control, we would like all of our charity partners, clients and potential clients to know that Charity Challenge has worked hard behind the scenes to look after our challenge participants and were in constant contact with the relevant airlines, service providers and ground agents, and provided stranded passengers with accommodation, all meals, bottled water and misc expenses. Since the airspace re-opened, we have been heavily involved both in the UK and abroad to get them on to the next available flight home.

We provided regular updates as and when possible (to clients, their next of kin and the charity that they were supporting) via email, text and letters distributed in the hotel. We also organised sightseeing tours if wanted to keep people busy whilst there was nothing more they could do to influence the journey home.

For those that were unfortunate enough to have cancelled flights leaving the UK to start their challenges, we have rearranged and transferred bookings to new dates at no cost to the participants.

To all of our clients who were stranded abroad, or who missed their flights last weekend on scheduled departures, many thanks for your patience and understanding.

Best regards

Simon Albert, Director
