The challenge

  • Help build homes for Kamaiya families
  • The Kamaiya people have recently been freed from a life of slavery but have been left homeless, currently living in temporary and vastly inadequate and insecure shacks.
  • Work hand in hand with the Kamaiya people to build sustainable homes to help change their lives for the better.
  • No experience is required, just enthusiasm and the desire to make a difference
  • Taking responsible tourism to developing countries

A community challenge provides an exciting opportunity for individuals to travel and work closely with people of another culture and to help make a real difference to their lives.

Helping to build homes alongside local people is a unique experience that opens your eyes to the plight of others who do not have the basic, simple amenities that most of us take for granted.

It is both a physical and an emotional experience and volunteers often come away knowing a great deal more about themselves than they did beforehand. All it takes to participate in a community challenge is enthusiasm and a desire to help. No other skills are required, as there will be skilled supervisors on hand to show you what to do.
