The challenge

  • Take part in the Great Ethiopian Run
  • Have a Cultural City Tour of Addis Ababa
  • Visit an ActionAid project in Lera Town
  • Explore rural Ethiopia
  • Meet ActionAid beneficiaries and see how our work has helped local Ethiopian people

Come and join us on our fantastic week-long visit to Ethiopia, which includes the chance to take part in Africa’s biggest race, the Great Ethiopian Run!

The race has already attracted high-profile athletes such as Paula Radcliffe, Tilahun Regassa and Wude Ayalew, and is run at high altitude in high temperatures. This will test your stamina, strength and determination!

The race ambassador and co-founder is the legendary Haile Gebrselassie, who has been the driving force behind the Great Ethiopian Run becoming one of the best-known on the continent.

Your visit will take you straight to the heart of Ethiopia, and to see for yourself how ActionAid’s work really makes a difference to people’s lives. We will take you on an enriching and inspiring trip to a village, giving you time to meet local people and explore this diverse and beautiful country. You will also see first hand how ActionAid has helped a small community build their way out of poverty, and meet those who have benefitted from this work.
