At 5,895m, Mt. Kilimanjaro is one of the largest volcanoes ever to break through the Earth's crust. Your challenge is to reach its summit.
Your trek starts in the rainforests of Lemosho Glades and heads upwards as you acclimatise on Shira Plateau. From here you will catch a glimpse of your goal Kibo, Kilimanjaro's main ice-capped peak. You continue via the beautiful Southern Flank, Barranco Wall and Barafu Route.
Temperatures drop at night, allowing you to enjoy the crisp cool air under the star-studded African skies. During the days you'll rise higher; often looking down on a sea of clouds.
Our groups have excellent success rates (96%) for trekkers reaching the summit, but don't underestimate the challenge ahead. Most trekkers will never have experienced a day as tough as this, with 1,000m of ascent and over 2,000m of descent. It is however victory day!

self funderThe full cost of this challenge is £2,583 which includes a £100 donation to your nominated charity. You will be required to pay the deposit of £695 and insurance premium* of £74 at the time of booking and the final balance of £1,888 which is due eight weeks before departure (16/12/2010).  minimum sponsorshipYou will be required to pay the deposit of £695 and insurance premium* of £74 at the time of booking, and pledge to raise a minimum amount of sponsorship, £3,975 for your nominated charity. You will need to send your sponsorship money to the charity as you raise it. At least 80% of the minimum sponsorship required (£3,180 must be sent to the charity ten weeks before departure (by 02/12/2010), and the remaining 20% (£795) within four weeks of completing the challenge (by 20/03/2011). If you have raised the necessary funds, the charity will then pay the balance of your expedition costs (which will not exceed 45% of the minimum sponsorship target). The charity benefits by keeping the remaining sponsorship money and every pound over and above that you raise. flexiRecognising that during the recession, it could be difficult to either pay the full cost of the challenge (self funder) or raise a large amount of sponsorship (minimum sponsorship option) we have launched the flexi option, which is somewhere in between. Essentially, you will be asked to pay the deposit at the time of booking (as with the other two payment options) but you will also make a second contribution towards your challenge costs 8 weeks before departure (the balance). This challenge has the option for you to pay the deposit in two instalments. The first instalment of £347.50 is due at the time of booking. The second instalment of £347.50 will automatically be debited from your credit/debit card 31 days after you book. |
