The communitychallenge programme is a series of powerful and inspiring team challenges that develop and motivate staff, provide much needed assistance to the developing world, and raise vital funds for charity. Following the Asian tsunami in 2004, it became clear that companies wanted to help, not just by sending money to the worst affected areas, but by sending people. The communitychallenge programme was developed in response to this demand, to enable employees to get directly involved in making a hands-on contribution to communities most in need. communitychallenge helps to address pressing global issues such as poverty housing, the HIV/AIDS orphans crisis and climate change. With an emphasis on health and safety, volunteers work under the guidance of both local and international professionals, allowing employees to focus on making a real difference. All that is needed is the energy, enthusiasm and desire to help. Over 1,500 employee volunteers have taken part in our programme since its launch in 2005, raising more than £1m for international development organizations. We have worked on 70 projects in 7 countries with companies including Reuters, HBOS, Saatchi and Saatchi, Diageo, Lloyds TSB, Schroders, IBM, Credit Suisse, GE, Freshfields, Serco and The Royal Bank of Scotland.
