Hot springs and Hallelujah!

It’s been a tough day today for everyone. An early wake up gave Denise, Fearne, Alexandra and Amanda the chance for a quick dip in the hot springs where we camped accompanied by most of our VIPs. The natural springs were toasty hot and are meant to help with muscle ache, so fingers crossed it does the job…

Before long we are off and we’re climbing. We’re all taken back by how slow we need to walk and how hard the altitude hits us. Luckily the views are absolutely astounding. No words can describe it. Probably a good job as none of us could speak – breath was in short supply.

Highlight of the day was meeting local children who had come to greet us. They are so cheeky in their colourful home woven outfits. They sing a couple of songs for us and in return Denise nominated Alexandra to sing. Her rendition of Hallelujah is amazing and reduces everyone to tears including the manly TV crew. The little boys stare back in wonder! They probably think we are insane!

Lou and Denise are first back to camp which is big achievement given that she found the morning tough going. A great effort all round today but there are jitters in the group about tomorrow as we know it’s the toughest day and we all found today hard enough!
