Some of our challenges are exclusively in aid of one particular charity, but where you see the words “in aid of any charity”, you can raise funds for any cause that you feel passionate about, as long as they are a UK or Irish registered charity, and they authorise you to fundraise in their name. We will help get the authorisation for you to fundraise, so choose from one of the many charities on our database, or if you don’t find them listed, you can give us some contact details when you book and we’ll get in touch with them and get them listed on the site.

Each year 450 children in the UK are diagnosed with brain cancer. Among these there is a tumour so DEADLY there is NO effective treatment or CURE - Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Glioma or DIPG. Responsible for 80% of ALL brain tumour death that occurs in children, we aim to raise vital research funds & give HOPE to DIPG families. A UK family is affected by DIPG every 9 DAYS, they will be told that their child has an average life expectancy of just 9 MONTHS. This prognosis has remained unchanged for more than 50 years, we are already working with the research centres in the UK and worldwide, that are progressing the most innovative research projects to improve the putlook for future families that receive this most devastating diagnosis in paediatric oncology. Currently in the UK a child DIES every THREE days from brain cancer. This has to change.

We are a group of people from 35 different churches over Aberdeen/Aberdeenshire working together on the streets of Aberdeen. Our aim is to listen, care and help people who are out at the weekend, connecting with this diverse community through simple acts of kindness. We demonstrate God's love by making ourselves available offering practical care and support - eg offering flipflops, walking people to taxis, administer first aid, calming people down when tempers fray. We celebrate with many and have been brought to tears offering support to those who have lost loved ones. We inspire and equip the Christian community to come alongside people and to make a positive influence on our streets and in our churches.

We are The Soldiers’ Charity. We give lifetime support to serving and retired soldiers and their families. They risk so much for us, but for them, it’s “just doing their job”. In return, we give them down-to-earth help and friendship, with no hassle or bureaucracy. That’s what we’ve been here to offer for 66 years. Recently we have seen a 30% year on year rise in applications from soldiers who have taken part in previous and current conflicts and we currently raise £7 million a year to meet this need. As a result of Current Operations it is anticipated that the requests for assistance will rise significantly in the coming years. It is the aim of The Soldiers’ Charity to increase fundraising to £14 million a year by 2015 to be sure that we can help each and every soldier that needs our help. From before they are born until they are into their twenties, we help disadvantaged children across the UK. We do it through practical services and programmes that are proven to work. We help children through fostering or adoption. We intervene early to stop neglect and abuse. We make life better for disabled children. We influence policy and advocate for change. Nearly 7,000 staff and volunteers run over 600 services, from family centres to intensive support services, youth work to residential care homes. Together, we make a difference to the lives of 390,000 children, young people and families every year. From our origins running children’s homes, we have spent over a century working on the front line, developing services that set a lead for others to follow. We work in partnership with other charities, local authorities and health services, and are supported by a broad range of donors, campaigners, experts and specialists. Our work depends on public support. We earn it by showing how every single thing we do makes a difference. Wherever we work all do what’s right, do what’s needed and do what works for children in the UK.
