Some of our challenges are exclusively in aid of one particular charity, but where you see the words “in aid of any charity”, you can raise funds for any cause that you feel passionate about, as long as they are a UK or Irish registered charity, and they authorise you to fundraise in their name. We will help get the authorisation for you to fundraise, so choose from one of the many charities on our database, or if you don’t find them listed, you can give us some contact details when you book and we’ll get in touch with them and get them listed on the site.

From before they are born until they are into their twenties, we help disadvantaged children across the UK. We do it through practical services and programmes that are proven to work. We help children through fostering or adoption. We intervene early to stop neglect and abuse. We make life better for disabled children. We influence policy and advocate for change. Nearly 7,000 staff and volunteers run over 600 services, from family centres to intensive support services, youth work to residential care homes. Together, we make a difference to the lives of 390,000 children, young people and families every year. From our origins running children’s homes, we have spent over a century working on the front line, developing services that set a lead for others to follow. We work in partnership with other charities, local authorities and health services, and are supported by a broad range of donors, campaigners, experts and specialists. Our work depends on public support. We earn it by showing how every single thing we do makes a difference. Wherever we work all do what’s right, do what’s needed and do what works for children in the UK.

Action for Pulmonary Fibrosis was set up in 2013 by a group of patients, family members, carers and medical specialists to provide support for patients diagnosed with the devastating lung disease Pulmonary Fibrosis. Pulmonary Fibrosis is a terminal lung disease that kills 5,000 people in the UK every year and it is estimated that more than 30,000 people in the UK are affected. The condition is characterised by a build-up of scar tissue in the lungs leading to shortness of breath and eventual respiratory failure. We support patients and their families to give them hope and improve their quality of life. We set up support groups which are invaluable to patients and famillies; we have helped grow the number of groups in the UK from 3 in 2013 to 45 in 2017. We also fund research; this year we announced The Mike Bray IPF Research Fellowship - a £300,000 grant that will be awarded over three years to an outstanding research project, which enhances understanding of the causes of IPF or advances treatments. Our vision is a world where everyone living with pulmonary fibrosis has a better future.

Who is Adara? The Adara Group has two quite different parts, but one united purpose – to support people in poverty. The first part is an international development organisation, made up of non-profit companies and trusts in six countries, called Adara Development. The second part is two Australia-based corporate advisory businesses, Adara Advisors and Adara Partners. The Adara businesses are “for purpose” rather than for profit. Their sole objective is to fund Adara Development’s administration and emergency project costs. This allows 100% of all other donations received by Adara Development to go directly to project-related costs. Adara is focused on improving health and education for women, children and communities living in poverty. We are experts in maternal, neonatal and child health; and remote community development. We reach tens of thousands of people living in poverty each year. Our work has two pillars – best practice service, and knowledge sharing. The purpose of the Adara Group is to: 1. Work side by side with women, children and communities living in poverty to improve their lives 2. Change the way people think about the role of business in the world and the power of business/non-profit partnerships.
