Men in Sheds Hull’s aim is to reduce social isolation and loneliness for an increasing population of elderly males, primarily over 55 in the Hull area. Many members have physical and mental health issues. We aim to combat social isolation, loneliness and reduce inequalities that our members and volunteers face. The shed connects with older men to improve their physical health and mental well-being through social interaction whilst providing them a sense of purpose within their community. The charity provides a supportive environment for men to connect, share skills and work on projects which reduce social isolation and loneliness.

MenWalkTalk aims to reduce the stigma around men’s mental health and encourage men to talk openly about their issues. Men often avoid seeking support, and MenWalkTalk want to change this. MenWalkTalk facilitate walking groups for men aged 18+, creating safe spaces where they can speak freely and benefit from peer support. Mental Fight Club (MFC) provides participatory, mindful creative and movement activities in a safe non-judgemental, inclusive space where everyone is welcome, whether taking part or simply being. They come from all walks of life and have experience of many different types of mental distress including depression, psychosis, hearing voices or obsessive-compulsive behaviours. Their symptoms range from very acute to mild.
