This is a tough one-day challenge that will see you trekking either a full marathon distance (42km) or a half-marathon option (21km), journeying through Manchester’s historic waterways and urban landscapes. Your adventure begins in the Sale and Stretford area, following scenic routes along the Bridgewater Canal, the Manchester Ship Canal, and the River Irwell. As you progress, you’ll pass iconic landmarks, including Old Trafford, Salford Quays, and finishing in Castlefield, where Manchester’s industrial past meets its vibrant present.

Along the way, you’ll take in the green spaces of Sale Water Park, cross through historic docklands, and walk alongside some of the city’s most famous cultural and sporting sites. The full marathon route will push you through a changing landscape, from peaceful canal paths to the bustling heart of Manchester, finishing near the city centre. Whether you take on the full challenge or opt for the half-marathon, this is an unforgettable journey through Manchester’s unique mix of history, industry, and modern city life.
