You will meet your leader team in the picturesque village of Coniston for registration and a mandatory safety briefing at 8.30am. The challenge will start at approximately 9am, setting off on a demanding but rewarding route through the stunning landscape of the Lake District.
From Coniston, we steadily ascend along Walna Scar Road, a historic mountain track that offers breathtaking views as it climbs towards the high fells.
The route takes us across rugged trails and open fell land, passing remnants of the area’s rich mining history before reaching Dow Crag, where a dramatic ridgeline traverse adds to the challenge. We then descend briefly before tackling the final ascent to the summit of the Old Man of Coniston at 803m.
From the summit, take in the panoramic views over Coniston Water, the surrounding fells, and, on a clear day, even as far as the Irish Sea.
Our descent follows the North-East ridge, offering more dramatic scenery as we make our way back towards Coniston village.
The total route covers 12.7 km and is expected to take approximately 7-8 hours, including rest stops and time to enjoy the incredible views.
The challenge will end at approximately 4pm-5pm back in Coniston village, where we will celebrate our achievement after an unforgettable day in the Lake District mountains.
Precise timings and locations will be supplied to you one month prior to the challenge.
