Day 1, Sat 23 May 2026

Challenge Day

It will be an early start as we meet in Sale for registration and a safety briefing with your leaders for the day. They will explain how the day will be managed and ensure everyone is ready for the challenge ahead. After about 5km, the group will naturally separate into smaller groups based on walking pace, with leaders guiding each group along the route.

You will follow historic canal paths for most of your journey, taking in key sights such as Sale Water Park, Salford Quays, and Castlefield. Along the way, you’ll pass famous landmarks, including Old Trafford, the Science and Industry Museum, before reaching your finish at Manchester’s Roman ruins, a site that marks the city’s ancient origins and rich history. Whether you take on the full marathon or opt for the half-marathon route, this will be a memorable challenge showcasing Manchester’s rich history, industrial heritage, and vibrant waterways.

Distance: Marathon Distance (42km) / Half Marathon Option (21km)
