Day 1, Sat 03 Oct 2026

Arrival and transfer to Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina

The day has finally come for you to travel to Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina, to begin your challenge! Nerves will turn to excitement as you touch down in Sarajevo and meet the local team. You will have a full safety briefing this evening.  (D)

Day 2, Sun 04 Oct 2026

Cycling from Trebjevic to Gorazde (Distance: 80km, Ascent 1,150m, Descent 1,870m)

After a short transfer to Trebjevic cable car you will take the lift up to Mountain Trebjevic above Sarajevo. From there there is a short walk of 15mins to reach the starting point of your cycling route. The route heads towards Pale and Goražde town as you cycle through the amazing mountain scenery of Jahorina. Your first day of cycling on this challenge will include a challenging climb which is approximately 12km long with an average grade of 6% (some sections up to 10%). (B,L,D)

Day 3, Mon 05 Oct 2026

Cycling along the Drina River and Piva Canyon to Montenegro (distance: 67km, ascent 950m, descent 680m)

You will leave Goražde and cycle along the scenic gorge of the Drina River, passing small towns such as Ustikolina and Brod. After around 40km, you will turn southwest toward the Durmitor Massif in Montenegro. Crossing the border at Šćepan Polje , you will soon finish the day’s ride as the road approaches the Piva Canyon, with views of one of Europe’s deepest canyons from around 1000m elevation.

You will then transfer 40km to the Ethno Village Izlazak in Rudinice, where you will stay overnight, nearby to the emerald waters of Komarnica Lake. (B,L,D)

Day 4, Tue 06 Oct 2026

On the pilgrimage road (Distance: 83km, Ascent 1,250m, Descent 1,600m)

Back on the bikes, you begin the day with a 200m ascent from Izlazak. You will then ride through alpine scenery, covering around 10km of undulating terrain before a long descent to Nikšić. From there, you will continue cycling to the famous Ostrog Monastery before returning to your hotel in Nikšić for the night. (B,L,D)

Day 5, Wed 07 Oct 2026

From the mountains to the capital (Distance: 58km, Ascent 260m, Descent 860m)

You will cycle from Nikšić toward the Zeta River valley, gradually descending from around 700m to Podgorica at 20m elevation. Along the way, you will pass through Danilovgrad, where you will make a stop for refreshments. You will then transfer from the small town of Virpazar on the shores of Skadar Lake. (B,L,D)

Day 6, Thu 08 Oct 2026

Skadar Lake and the magical town of Rijeka Crnojevića (Distance: 57km, Ascent 1,020m, Descent 1,020m)

You will start the day with a short transfer to Virpazar on the shores of Skadar Lake, surrounded by steep limestone mountains and morning mist. From the town center, you will cycle along waterways lined with reeds and water lilies, through one of Europe’s largest bird reserves, home to the Dalmatian pelican.

You will continue on a scenic road to Rijeka Crnojevića, cycling through Mediterranean landscapes. Though small today, this town was Montenegro’s capital in the 15th century. You will ride a few extra kilometers to the famous Pavlova Strana viewpoint for panoramic views of the river, then return to Virpazar along the same route. (B,L,D)

Day 7, Fri 09 Oct 2026

Return to the UK

Enjoy a final team breakfast before saying a fond farewell to Montenegro, taking a short transfer (approximtely 30mins), and boarding your flight back to the UK. (B)
