Your Most Exotic Bicycle Tour starts from Utorda (Approx. 30-40min drive from Goa International Airport, GOI), a beautiful beach place and just south of the airport. We recommend that you arrive in Goa by 2pm today. Please provide us with your flight details (in your account area) as soon as possible so we can arrange a transfer for you from the airport to the hotel.
Please see the details about a potential British Asian Trust Project Visit in Jaipur the day before today (03 Feb 25) at the end of the itinerary description).
Check into the hotel at your leisure and then rejoin the group midafternoon to meet the team before a detailed bike fitting to make sure your bicycles are fitted properly for the following days' ride. This evening you will take a sunset boat ride on one of the local fishing boats famous in the area, and if you're lucky you might spot a dolphin or two. Then you can enjoy some sunset drinks before a full cycle briefing before heading out for your evening meal. Meals: D.
Overnight: Beleza by the Beach, Colva Beach
After an early breakfast, you will start your first day's ride out of the hotel, with views of some of Goa's most scenic beaches, as you follow the smaller roads along the coastline to the south. You can explore Cabo Rama Fort en-route before stopping for lunch at a Goan restaurant famous for its fish thali. Cabo do Rama Fort is a medieval fort and one of the oldest in Goa, still with a working ancient chapel that people come to visit from afar.
Today, pass through some of South Goa’s best-known beaches, sticking to the greener, quieter backroads as much as possible. There are some challenging climbs today, but each one is rewarded with some stunning views of the coastline.
To earn your night by the beach, take on a final climb before a descent into Canacona and onto the beautiful golden sands of Palolem. It's a beautiful day’s ride, ending in the comfort of a beachfront resort. Meals: B,L,D.
Overnight: Palolem Beach
Departing from the hotel, today's ride takes you away from the coastline, and into the post monsoon lush green landscape of inner Goa. Ride on well surfaced roads, nicely shaded from the day's sun as you head towards the hills and into the jungle. Smell the spices as you move towards the region of Netravali before stopping at a restaurant offering a farm to table lunch.
After lunch, get back on the saddle for an afternoon's ride through landscapes rich in greens from the post-monsoon rains, towards tonight's resort, in a protected nature reserve called Bhagwan Mahavir Wildlife Sanctuary. On the outskirts of the Dudh Sagar area, you can stretch your legs by exploring the spices around the grounds before settling into the evening for dinner. Meals: B,L,D.
Overnight: Natures Nest near Dudhsagar
Rise early for a jeep safari and walk to the Dudh Sagar Falls, one of the tallest waterfalls in India (weather permitting). After our short morning excursion, today's ride will see a beautiful day crossing rivers and passing through sleepy villages with old traditional ways of life. Continue through the land of spices and jungles, through the hills of the Western Ghats and leave behind Dudh Sagar Waterfall. We pass Chorão and Divar Islands, entering Salim Ali Park with a wonderful array of birds and wildlife.
Approach Chorão Island, with its amazing flora and fauna, home to the Salim Ali Bird Sanctuary, it is the largest bird sanctuary of Goa. The territory is inhabited by over 400 species of migratory and local birds. Crocodiles can also be seen among the aquatic inhabitants of Salim Ali Bird Sanctuary.
Stop for lunch at a quaint local restaurant in the Portuguese villa on Divar Island. This afternoon, it's back on the saddle to head to the hills and through jungles and forests. Passing spice plantations, you will follow a stretch of road lined by palm trees, heading towards Velha, in Old Goa. Enter Panjim, the capital of Goa, a charming city with old Portuguese architecture blending with Indian influence for our next night's stop.
After a quick shower, you will head to the famous Miguel’s Bar for a rewarding drink and an exploration around the back streets of Fontainhas, the Latin quarter; with beautiful, colourful architecture. It’s known for its narrow lanes full of spectacular Portuguese villas, with balconies and red-tiled roofs. Meals: B,L,D.
Overnight: Hotel in Panjim
Leaving Panjim behind, you will take on your final day of riding as you follow small roads through Reis Magos. This village is located on the northern bank of the Mandovi River in Bardez, opposite the capital city, and known for two of Goa’s most famous structures; the Reis Magos Fort and the Reis Magos Church. "Reis Magos" is the Portuguese name for the Three Wise Men from the Bible. You then head North through Saligao, Arpora and Vagator before tackling the biggest climb of the day and descending into Siolim. You are following the famous Hippie Trail from beach to beach. From there you cross a river and take the little used, scenic (if slightly hilly!) road inland to Corgao before heading for the coast and your finishing line. It's a wonderful place to end our adventure around all the best sights that Goa has to offer. A short transfer to tonight's hotel where you can freshen up for the evening celebration. Meals: B,L,D.
Overnight: Hotel
After breakfast, you can depart for your flight home or choose to extend your trip and have a well-deserved break on the beaches of Goa. (B)
