Please introduce yourself…
I’m Jade, Director of Income Generation at YMCA Cardiff and in May 2026, a team of 11 fundraisers took on the Mount Toubkal Trek, raising £19,427 in total for our branch. This was also the first overseas and large scale challenge that we have ever done!
Why did you choose Charity Challenge to run this challenge?
Charity Challenge was recommended to us by another YMCA branch.
What were you hoping to achieve?
The main aim for us was fundraising, but promotion was also important – in terms of getting our name out there a bit more and having our challengers network for us, whilst raising money for our cause.
How did the challenge go?
The challenge went really well and feedback from the challengers has been really positive! We had two challengers who did not reach the summit, which they were disappointed about but otherwise everything ran amazingly. Everyone hit their fundraising target and we almost doubled what we wanted to raise. We are now looking at another challenge for 2028.
What were your highlights?
Our chair is retiring from the board and this challenge experience was an amazing end to his time with us. Seeing the camaraderie and support within the group was a huge highlight, as well as the photos they brought back.
The Mount Toubkal Trek was the first fundraiser of this kind for our charity and it could not have gone better. Not only did we raise significant funds, but strangers became friends and our group became a team that helped us achieve our goal.
What did Charity Challenge do well?
The communication was very good throughout and Tilly, our Account Manager, was super responsive and helpful.
Charity Challenge organised a fantastic trip and we could not have been better looked after by our guides and doctor. This trip surpassed our hopes and expectations in every way.
