With the arrival of the holiday season comes shorter days and chilly evenings – so it’s no wonder most of us prefer to stay cosied up indoors. This doesn’t have to darken our festive fundraising spirits though! Here at Charity Challenge, we know plenty of fun ways to keep potential donors engaged – from crafty competitions to imaginative cocktail nights. Over the slower winter months, people love any excuse to keep energised and feeling good about themselves. After all, it is also the season of giving!
Let’s get started with some crafty ideas. You could use any of these ideas individually, or host an event that includes all of them…
Christmas Bauble Decorating Competition
A simple festive fundraising idea – have fun with glitter and glue. To get all ages involved you could have two prizes – one for adults and one for children!
Build-Your-Own-Hot-Chocolate Stand
Everybody loves hand-warming hot chocolate during winter. By providing a few extra festive toppings to choose from (such as snowman shaped marshmallows or even edible glitter) you could create an interactive stand that kids will love and parents will happily part with a few pounds for!
Christmas Cookies Bake-Off
Does what it says on the Christmas-cookie-tin! Bake some melting snowmen or reindeer cupcakes and hold a bake sale to raise some money for your fundraising target. Or, host a festive Bake Off in your office or local village hall, charge £10 entry with the winner getting a prize.

New Year’s Eve Cocktail Night (With a Fancy Dress Twist)
People love an excuse to get dressed up, especially to decompress after the busy lead-up to Christmas. For some added fun, why not make it fancy-dress-themed as well? Work out a suitable entry cost for your guests and make sure to hand out some prizes for the best, worst or most festive looks…
Festive Themed Film and Food Movie Night
Themed food-and-film nights are gaining popularity – and for a good reason. They combine screening movie favourites with a yummy menu (think Home Alone plus Pizza or The Grinch with a side of green cookies!).
Christmas Carol-oke!
Host a festive Karaoke night and have a good old-fashioned sing-a-long! You could also hand out a prize for the best performance (or worst, if you’re channeling your inner Scrooge…).
With these ideas to give you a helping hand, there’s no excuse to forgo your fundraising efforts this Winter!
There’s also nothing like a Charity Challenge to keep you motivated during this upcoming New Year. Training yourself up and gaining donor support for a tough-yet-rewarding outdoor challenge is a great way to achieve feeling good inside and out! So, if you haven’t already, don’t forget to sign up to one of our inspiring 2025/2026 challenges.
